Asset Management CEO Mary Erdoes Discusses the Business's Strategic Priorities at Investor Day

JPMorgan Chase held its annual Investor Day last week, with each line of business reviewing its performance and sharing its strategic priorities with a crowd of more than 250 analysts and investors. In addition to presentations from the chief executives of each business, attendees received a corporate update from JPMorgan Chase CFO Doug Braunstein, and heard from Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon.

Mary Erdoes, Chief Executive Officer for J.P. Morgan Asset Management, recapped that business's strong 2010 performance and outlined the steps the business is taking to achieve its mission...

"To be the most respected asset management firm by delivering exceptional risk adjusted investment performance, by offering a broad and innovative range of trust and investment products, and by providing the highest quality service through local management of client relationships."

The following were highlighted as key growth areas:

  1. Expanding internationally, particularly in the developing markets in Latin America, Europe and Asia, to ensure that the business has the people and resources needed to meet increasing client demand.

  2. Enhancing front-facing client coverage around the world to support business growth. That means continuing to add talent every year, as was done even throughout the crisis, and ensuring that all professionals have the training and tools they need to best meet their clients' needs.

  3. Maintaining standout performance across traditional and alternative asset classes.

  4. Continuously innovating by providing both valued advice for optimizing portfolios and maintaining a pipeline of next generation investment products and solutions that address clients' evolving needs and priorities.

Erdoes emphasized that these growth areas won't be focused on at the expense of any other areas. She noted that Asset Management isn't about one single business or region—it's about bringing together all of its world-class products and solutions and delivering them locally to each client segment
